Genesis 12 & 13

What did I read? Genesis 12 & 13

What scriptures did God use to speak to me? 12:10 There was a famine in the land [that God gave to Abram] and Abram went down to Egypt. 12:13 Say you [Sarai] are my sister, so that I [Abram] will be treated well for your sake and my life will be spared because of you. 12:16 He [the king] treated Abram well [because of Sarai] for her sake. 12:17 But the Lord….
How does this apply to me? I can trust God. Why? Because God does not forsake his promises [see 12:3] to his people. He bailed Sarai and Abram out of this mess by inflicting pain on the enemy and opening his [the king's] eyes of understanding. Abram was so full of himself he did all the wrong things…went to Egypt, which was away from the land God gave him [see 12:7], offered his wife to another man because he was afraid for his own life. It seems to me that he didn’t trust God at all. Yet I know he did because in the book of Romans Paul refers to him as the spiritual father of faith Rom 4:11 & 12. In this instance in Genesis though God couldn’t get through to Abram so he opened the eyes of the enemy, and the king got it.  How amazing is that? Plus God didn’t seem to be upset with Abram. So, this says to me I should not be so concerned about making wrong decisions. I want to do the right thing, but if I do make a mistake somehow I think I can trust God to get me out of it just like he did for Abraham.

Konnecting with God: Dear Lord God, I am going to trust that this is a promise I can count on. I do want to be in your will all the time, but if I get lopsided and make a bad choice or a wrong decision, I know you will help me. I understand that any mistake might have a consequence, but even then you will give me grace to face it. Wow, you are an amazing God! I love you and I thank you for caring for me. Amen.
