2 Chronicles 33: 11, 12, & 17

Scripture:  2 Chronicles 33: 11, 12, & 17 The Message—God directed the leaders of the troops of the king of Assyria to come after king Manasseh. They put a hook in his nose, shackles on his feet, and took him off to Babylon. Now that he was in trouble, he went to his knees in prayer asking for help—total repentance before the God of his ancestors. As he prayed, God was touched; God listened and brought him back to Jerusalem as king. That convinced Manasseh that God was in control. After that Manasseh restored worship, and issued orders to the people: “You shall serve and worship God, the God of Israel.” But the people didn’t take him seriously—they used the name “God” but kept on going to the old pagan neighborhood shrines and doing the same old things.
Application Inner change or repentance cannot be ordered. It is a personal choice.
Prayer Dear Lord God, help me remember that I cannot fix people. My relationship with you is my personal story. I cannot expect others to do what I do, but I can be a walking example of your grace and love. I can share my God experiences with other people when they are willing to listen, and I can pray they find you for themselves. Do it through me, Lord. Amen.

2 Chronicles 31:20-21

Today’s Scripture: 2 Chronicles 31:20-21 The Message—Hezekiah carried out this work and kept it up everywhere in Judah. He was the very best—good, right, and true before his God. Everything he took up, whether it had to do with worship in God’s Temple or the carrying out of God’s Law and Commandments, he did well in a spirit of prayerful worship. He was a great success.
Today’s Application: To be successful I must choose to do everything in a spirit of prayerful worship.
Today’s Prayer:  Dear Lord, teach me to be like King Hezekiah in these scriptures—to be the very best I can be. Forgive me for the times my sinful behavior gets in the way of your will for my life. Help me learn how to always act out of a spirit of prayerful worship. Amen.

2 Chronicles 27:2, 6, 28:1-4, 22

Today’s Scripture: 2 Chronicles 27:2, 6, 28:1-4, 22 The Message--In God’s eyes Jotham lived a good life, following the path marked out by his father Uzziah. Unlike his father, though, he didn’t desecrate The Temple of God. Jotham’s strength was rooted in his steady and determined life of obedience to God. Ahaz (Jotham’s son) didn’t live right in the eyes of God; and indulged in the outrageous practice of “passing his sons through the fire,” a truly abominable thing he picked up from the pagans God had earlier thrown out of the country—at the very time that everyone was turning against him, he continued to be against God! He offered sacrifices to the gods of Damascus. He had just been defeated by Damascus; he thought, “If I worship the gods who helped Damascus, those gods just might help me, too.” But things only went from bad to worse.
Today’s Word: Success
Today’s Prayer: Dear Lord, the key to success is not following people, but pleasing you. So, how do I know my choices, my actions, my attitudes are pleasing to you.  How can I know for sure I’m not getting caught up in people pleasing? I guess it comes back to delighting in you as your Word says to do in Psalms 37:4. If you light up my life rather than some person, title, or accomplishment then I think I have found true success. Amen.

2 Chronicles 26:16-18

Today’s Scripture: 2 Chronicles 26:16-18 The Message—But then the strength and success went to his head. Arrogant and proud, he fell. One day, contemptuous of God, he walked into The Temple of God like he owned it and took over, burning incense on the Incense Altar. The priest Azariah, backed up by eighty brave priests of God, tried to prevent him. They confronted Uzziah: “You must not, you cannot do this, Uzziah—only the Aaronite priests, especially consecrated for the work, are permitted to burn incense. Get out of God’s Temple; you are unfaithful and a disgrace!”
Today’s Word: Humble
Today’s Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I would rather be humble and poor with you than rich and arrogant without you. The things that drive some people are really only a façade. Help them to see the truth of what is really important and keep me humble. Don’t let me fail you or myself. Amen.

2 Chronicles 20:35-37

Today’s Scripture: 2 Chronicles 20:35-37 The Message—Late in life Jehoshaphat formed a trading syndicate with Ahaziah king of Israel, which was very wrong of him to do—“Because you joined forces with Ahaziah, God has shipwrecked your work.” The ships were smashed and nothing ever came of the trade partnership.
Today’s Word: Liaison
Today’s Prayer: Dear Lord, it is so important to pray and seek you before I form a liaison with another person. Jehoshaphat was a good king his whole life, seeking you and your will, but he got careless in his old age. His work was destroyed because of an evil liaison. Help me to always remember today’s lesson. Thank you for watching over me and for your Word, which keeps me on the straight and narrow path. Amen.

2 Chronicles 16:9, 18:33

Today’s Scripture: 2 Chronicles 16:9, 18:33 The Message—God is always on the alert, constantly on the lookout for people who are totally committed to him. You were foolish to go for human help when you could have had God’s help. Now you are in trouble—one round of war after another. Just then someone, without aiming, shot an arrow into the crowd and hit the king of Israel in the chink of his armor. The king told his charioteer, “Turn back! Get me out of here—I’m wounded.”
Today’s Word: Committed
Today’s Prayer: Dear Father God, I do want to be committed to you in every area of my life. It seems foolish for anyone to make choices like King Ahab, because no one can get away from you or the truth of your Word. Thank you for being my friend and constant companion. Amen.

Today’s Scripture: 2 Chronicles 15:15 The Message—anticipating the best, they had sought God—and he showed up, ready to be found. God gave them peace within and without—a most peaceable kingdom!
Today’s Word: Peace
Today’s Prayer: Dear Lord, there is only one way to have peace in the midst of chaotic circumstances, whether in Bible times or today and that is to seek you. Thank you for reminding me of this truth today. You are an awesome God and your messages always come perfectly at the right time for me. Amen.

2 Chronicles 10:7, 12:5

Today’s Scripture: 2 Chronicles 10:7, 12:5 The Message—“If you will be a servant to this people, be considerate of their needs and respond with compassion, work things out with them, they’ll end up doing anything for you.” Then the prophet Shemaiah came to Rehoboam and said, “God’s word: You abandoned me; now I abandon you.”
Today’s Word: Rejected
Today’s Prayer: Dear Lord God, the best things of life was rejected by King Rehoboam.  He did not love you and he had no compassion or thought for your people. In turn, you rejected him. His story reminds me to be so in love with Jesus that I will never reject what is important to him. I am also reminded of words from a song—it’s not about me. It’s all about you, Jesus. Not that you would do things my way. You alone are God and I surrender to your will. Amen.

2 Chronicles 7:20

Today’s Scripture: 2 Chronicles 7:20 The Message—As for you, if you live in my presence as your father David lived, pure in heart and action, living the life I’ve set out for you, attentively obedient to my guidance and judgments, then I’ll back your kingly rule over Israel—make it a sure thing on a sure foundation. The same covenant guarantee I gave to David your father I’m giving to you, namely, ‘You can count on always having a descendant on Israel’s throne.’
Today’s Word: Guarantee
Today’s Prayer: Dear Lord, I also have a guarantee that you will fulfill your specific promises to me. I know I have a part to play, but since you use David as your example to Solomon I know you don’t expect perfection. You are looking for my heart to follow hard after you as David’s did. That is what I want, too. Amen.

2 Chronicles 6:33

Today’s Scripture: 2 Chronicles 6:33 The Message--Listen from your home in heaven and honor the prayers of the foreigner, so that people all over the world will know who you are and what you’re like, And live in reverent obedience before you, just as your own people Israel do, So they’ll know that you personally make this Temple that I’ve built what it is.
Today’s Word: Prophetic
Today’s Prayer: Dear Lord, Solomon prayed these words thousands of years ago. This was a prophetic prayer spoken at a time when Israelites really believed they were the only people chosen to worship you, but his prayer included foreigners like Cornelius from Acts 10 and me. Could my prayers be prophetic if I listen and pray as you want me to? Wow, what an awesome promise you have given me today. Amen.
