Exodus 4:12-14

Today’s Scripture: Exodus 4:12-14 NLT – Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say." But Moses again pleaded, "Lord, please! Send anyone else." Then the Lord became angry with Moses. "All right," he said. "What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he speaks well. And look! He is on his way to meet you now.
Today’s Word: Aaron
Today’s Prayer: Dear Lord I’m learning from Moses again that it is not good to argue with you. You alone know what is best, and your will for my life is always perfect. If I think I know better than you do, you may send me an Aaron who might end up making gold calves (Exodus 32:22-25) that turn my family and friends away from you. Wow! God what a lesson you taught me today. I want to respond quickly to your instructions and do the work you designed for me. I don’t want any Aaron’s in my life. Amen.

Today’s Scripture: Genesis 49:10 NLT – The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from his descendants, until the coming of the one to whom it belongs, the one whom all nations will honor.
Today’s Word: Change
Today’s Prayer: Thank you God for changing people’s lives. You have changed mine and you changed Jacob from a man who stole his brother’s birthright to a man who prophecies the Messiah in today’s scripture. What a great God you are and will be to anyone who submits to your will and says yes to your plan for their life. Amen

Genesis 45:4-8

Today’s Scripture: Genesis 45:4-8 The Message – “I am Joseph your brother whom you sold into Egypt. But don't feel badly, don't blame yourselves for selling me. God was behind it. God sent me here ahead of you to save lives. There has been a famine in the land now for two years; the famine will continue for five more years — neither plowing nor harvesting. God sent me on ahead to pave the way and make sure there was a remnant in the land, to save your lives in an amazing act of deliverance. So you see, it wasn't you who sent me here but God. He set me in place as a father to Pharaoh, put me in charge of his personal affairs, and made me ruler of all Egypt.”
Today’s Word: Deliverance
Today’s Prayer: Dear God it is always amazing to me that you can take something as evil as the jealousy between brothers and turn it into such a great deliverance. Thank you for the examples of this very of thing in my own life. When my son died I didn’t know what else to do but hold tight to you, and you took my pain, grief, and confusion and delivered me into greater things than I could have ever imagined. What a great and wonderful God you are to me. Amen.

Genesis 39:8-9

Today’s Scripture: Genesis 39:8-9 The Message – He said to his master's wife, "Look, with me here, my master doesn't give a second thought to anything that goes on here — he's put me in charge of everything he owns. He treats me as an equal. The only thing he hasn't turned over to me is you. You're his wife, after all! How could I violate his trust and sin against God?"
Today’s Word: Integrity
Today’s Prayer: Lord, I really want to be a person of integrity as Joseph was in these verses – choosing your way over any temptation that comes. I really struggle with why it is so easy to fall into the trap of making a bad choice for a moment of satisfaction when I know better, but as you know I often do this. Help me remember Joseph’s words “How could I violate his trust and sin against God?” Sin no matter who else is involved is always against you. Forgive me Lord for my lack of integrity and help me to do better. Thank you. Amen.

Genesis 28:20-22

Today’s Scripture: Genesis 28:20-22 NIV – Then Jacob made a vow, saying, "If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear so that I return safely to my father's house, then the Lord  will be my God and this stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God's house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth."
Today’s Word: Terms
Today’s Prayer: Dear Lord I hope my prayers are not like Jacob’s – according to his terms: I’ll be good to you God if you’ll be good to me. What kind of prayer is that?  I don’t want to put you in a box or bring you down to my terms and pleasures. I want my prayers to seek your will and bring me up to your terms. In Ephesians 1:5 you tell me that I was created for your good pleasure. I like that. What can I do today to please you? Who can I talk to? Show me your pleasure; open my eyes to see and my ears to hear your terms for my life. Amen.

Genesis 25:23; 31-32

Today’s Scripture: Genesis 25:23; 31-32 – “Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you will be separated; one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger." Jacob replied, "First sell me your birthright."  "Look, I am about to die," Esau said. "What good is the birthright to me?"
Today’s Word: Details
Today’s Prayer: Lord these scriptures confirm that you knew the details of Esau’s life from the beginning. You knew what his choices would be. You also know every detail of my life. Esau didn’t value the fact he was first born and Jacob was right there to take advantage. I want to value every detail you have designed for me. I do not want someone standing in the wings to take advantage of the details I don’t value. Keep me in the center of your will, Lord. If I stray pull me back. I give you permission to do whatever it takes to get me back on track. Amen.

Genesis 20:11-12

Today’s Scripture: Genesis 20:11-12 The Message – Abraham said, "I just assumed that there was no fear of God in this place and that they'd kill me to get my wife.
Today’s Word: Assume
Today’s Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father what a dangerous word assume is. In Abraham’s case he could have spoiled your promise if you had not intervened. Forgive me for any presumptions I have made. It is wrong of me to try to get inside of someone’s head and figure out what they are thinking or what they will do. It is the height of doing things in my own strength. I thank you that you did not let Abraham spoil your plans. That gives me great comfort, but I’d rather be on the proactive side and learn not to assume in the first place. You alone know the heart and mind of man. You will tell me what to do in every circumstance if I will trust and obey. Amen.

Genesis 19:16-22

Today’s Scripture: Genesis 19:16-22 The Message – Lot was dragging his feet. The men grabbed Lot's arm, and the arms of his wife and daughters — God was so merciful to them! — and dragged them to safety outside the city. When they had them outside, Lot was told, "Now run for your life! Don't look back! Don't stop anywhere on the plain — run for the hills or you'll be swept away." But Lot protested, "No, masters, you can't mean it! I know that you've taken a liking to me and have done me an immense favor in saving my life, but I can't run for the mountains — who knows what terrible thing might happen to me in the mountains and leave me for dead. He said to him, "All right. If you insist. I'll let you have your way. And I won't stamp out the town you've spotted. But hurry up. Run for it! I can't do anything until you get there."
Today’s Word: Run
Today’s Prayer: Oh Lord, what a good lesson. If you say run from this sin, I pray that I do not argue with you as Lot did. You alone know what’s best for me. If I argue with you, do I come out from your protection? Would Lot’s daughters have had sex with him (Genesis 19:31-33) if he’d followed the advice of the Angel and gone to the mountains when he told him to? I guess I’ll never know the answer to that question. But I do believe arguing with you opens me to sin and sin makes me vulnerable to Satan’s schemes. My prayer is to get to a place in my relationship with you that as soon as you speak I respond according to your will.  I want to run toward you, not away from you. Amen.
