Genesis 15:6 and 16:2-3

Today’s Scripture: Genesis 15:6 NLT – Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith.
Genesis 16:2-3 NLT – So Sarai said to Abram, "The Lord has prevented me from having children. Go and sleep with my servant. Perhaps I can have children through her." And Abram agreed with Sarai's proposal.
Today’s Word: Believed
Today’s Prayer: Oh Lord this is a troubling part of scripture. Abram believed and you counted him righteous… having right standing with you. Then Sarai came up with her own plan and Abram believed her and sinned against you. How many times have I done that, Lord? I really don’t know, but I have doubted your word of promise to me. Perhaps the timing wasn’t what I expected or something else caused me to turn my eyes from your word and wander into sin. Forgive me Lord. Help me learn to believe you and you alone. Thanks for being my friend and Father. Amen.

Genesis 13:11-12 & 13:14-16

Today’s Scriptures: Genesis 13:11-12 NLT – Lot chose for himself the whole Jordan Valley to the east of them. He went there with his flocks and servants and parted company with his uncle Abram.
Genesis 13:14-16 NLT -- After Lot had gone, the Lord said to Abram, "Look as far as you can see in every direction—north and south, east and west. I am giving all this land, as far as you can see, to you and your descendants as a permanent possession.
Today’s Words: Taking vs. Receiving
Today’s Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, as I read these scriptures this morning you revealed to me that Lot took the land by his own knowledge and in his own strength. Abram on the other hand received his land from you by your power. It is my desire to receive everything you have for me. I want to depend on you in every area of my life. May my eyes and ears always be sensitive to your voice so that I will never cross the line and become a taker. Amen.

Genesis 7:5 & 16

Today’s Scripture: Genesis 7:5 & 16 The Message –Noah did everything God commanded him. Then God shut the door behind him.
Today’s Word: Obedience
Today’s Prayer: Dear God, I can see it so clearly in Noah’s life.  He did his part by listening to you and obeying your word. Then you did your part by closing the door and protecting him from the flood waters. It’s so plain and simple when I read it, but I wonder did Noah struggle with his part vs. your part just like it do. Whether he did or not, his story gives me courage and faith that I too can listen and obey. Thank you for Noah’s story and for grace to help me like you obviously helped him. Amen.

Genesis 4:6-7

Today’s Scripture: Genesis 4:6-7 The Message – God spoke to Cain: "Why this tantrum? Why the sulking? If you do well, won't you be accepted? And if you don't do well, sin is lying in wait for you, ready to pounce; it's out to get you, you've got to master it."
Today’s Word: Master
Today’s Prayer: Wow! Lord what a big word master is, but if Cain was apable of doing it so am I. I’m sorry he didn’t make that choice, but I want to. Your Angel told Mary “Nothing is impossible with God” (Luke 1:37). I know that applies to me too, so I can master all evil and do the right thing. Thank you, Lord, for your incredible word and power for me today. Amen.

Genesis 3:2-3

Today’s Scripture: Genesis 3:2-3 The Message – Woman said to the serpent, "Not at all. We can eat from the trees in the garden. It's only about the tree in the middle of the garden that God said, 'Don't eat from it; don't even touch it or you'll die.'
"Matthew 4:3-4 NLT During  that time the devil came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread." But Jesus told him, "No! The Scriptures say, 'People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"
Today’s Word: Truth
Today’s Prayer: Dear Lord, Eve elaborated on your word, which was a lie and opened up a really big door for Satan to enter. Jesus on the other hand stopped him with the truth. Teach me how to be like Jesus, to use your word succinctly and truthfully stopping any temptation cold in its tracts. Thank you. Amen.
